Plans to sell SSM Audrain and St. Mary’s hospitals in Jefferson City and Mexico to MU Health Care are still in place.
According to Audrain County Presiding Commissioner Steve Hobbs the process is taking longer than expected.
Hobbs says something could still be done legislatively on the merger this year by Missouri lawmakers.
SSM is working with MU Health Care to expand access to orthopedic care in Mexico.
Nathan Skelley, M.D. will soon provide clinical coverage and perform orthopedic surgery one day a week at SSM Audrain.
