Mexico Public Safety Conducting Teen Seat Belt Enforcement

Mexico Public Safety and the Jefferson City Police Department will be joining with law enforcement statewide beginning tomorrow for an aggressive youth seat belt mobilization.

According the to Missouri Department of Transportation, 70 percent of teen drivers and passengers killed in vehicle crashes were unbuckled.


From 2015 to 2017, 93 percent of teens ejected from a vehicle and killed were not wearing seat belts.

Under the Graduated Driver’s License law, teens are required to wear their seat belt as well as all occupants in the vehicle for the teen driver’s license to be valid.
