The Missouri Tigers Softball Team dropped the rubber match 9-3 to the 5th ranked Tennessee Volunteers last (Monday) night in Columbia.
The Tigers now sit at 17-14 overall and 6-6 in SEC play.
The St. Louis Cardinals spoiled the Pittsburgh Pirates home opener with a 6-5 extra innings victory.
The game took just under 5 hours to play.
St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina did something he has never done before in his career yesterday.
Molina who has logged 15,000 defensive innings behind the plate and 94 innings at first base, made his debut at third base yesterday (Monday).
Regular third baseman Matt Carpenter was ejected by the home plate umpire during the game yesterday.
Manager Mike Shildt had to put back up catcher Matt Wieters in the game to pinch hit.
So with an emptied bench Shildt was in a tight spot and Yadier Molina made his Major League debut at third.
St. Louis erased a four run deficit and Paul DeJong scored on a two out, bases-loaded passed ball in the top of the 11th inning to get the second win.
The St. Louis Blues defeated the Colorado Avalanche 3-2 in a shootout last (Tuesday) night.
Ryan O’Reilly won the game for the Blues in the shootout.
With the victory St. Louis has now moved into 2nd place in the Central Division.
