Mexico City Council
The Mexico City Council met Monday night to approve a schedule of fines set forth by the Missouri Supreme Court.
The supreme court recently passed a judgement requiring all municipal fees to be the same across the state.
All of the fees are now set fully by the courts.
According to City Manager Bruce Slagle, some of the fees are an increase from what the city had previously set.
During public comment, Joshua Price came forward and asked the council why Mexico residents are getting fined over the height of the grass in their yards when the city is also struggling to cut grass. He said he was also concerned about ticks in the high grass around Plunkett Park.
Price was informed by Slagle city ordinance states grass can only reach a certain height before the city reaches out to the resident of the house.
