The Mexico Board of Education swore in the two candidates that were chosen by voters on April 2nd Tuesday.
Nicole Jahn-Nelson, the newest member of the board and incumbent Heather DeMint took the oath to accept their three year terms.
The board also chose the officers for the upcoming year. Dustin Pascoe will continue as president. DeMint will serve as vice president. Kelli Teel is the new treasurer and Nate Birt has been appointed as the Missouri School Board Association delegate.
Mexico Public Schools was awarded a check in the amount of $292,736 for participating in Ameren Missouri’s Energy Efficiency program for three years.
Superintendent Dr. Zach Templeton gave an update on the elementary reconfiguration process. He told the board letters will soon be sent to parents indicating what school their child will be assigned to.
The district is expecting around 166 incoming kindergarten students in the next school year, and the Pre-K school will likely still have a waiting list.
