Columbia Regional Airport Receives Federal Grant

The United States Department of Transportation has awarded a grant worth more than $2.8 million to help relocate a highway and extend a runway at Columbia Regional Airport.

The FAA included the airport in the first round of awards possible in the Airport Improvement Program funding.

In a separate grant, the FAA is giving the city $391 thousand to repair the airport’s secondary runway.

The initial plans include a realignment of Route H, while the main runway will be expanded from 6500 feet to 7400 feet.
