The second half of the major league baseball season is set to get underway for the St. Louis Cardinals and the Kansas City Royals tonight (Friday) and several roster moves are being announced.
The St. Louis Cardinals are placing catcher Yadier Molina on the 10 day injured list.
The announcement was made yesterday (Thursday) and is retroactive to July 8th.
The veteran suffered a right thumb tendon strain and has not played since July 3rd.
The Cardinals also activated Matt Carpenter from the 10 day injured list, who was sidelined with a lower back strain.
The Kansas City Royals have purchased the contract of outfielder Bubba Starling from Triple-A Omaha getting ready for tonight’s game against the Detroit Tigers.
The 26 year old Starling had a .310 batting average including 7 home runs and 9 stolen bases in 72 games for Omaha.
He also participated in the Triple-A All Star Game this week.
In a blockbuster deal in the NBA yesterday (Thursday) the Oklahoma City Thunder have agreed to a trade that will send Russell Westbrook to the Houston Rockets, where he will be reunited with former teammate James Harden.
According to reports from ESPN the Rockets will send guard Chris Paul, and 2 first round protected picks in 2024 and 2026, and two pick swaps in 2021 and 2025 to the Thunder.
The Rockets are reuniting two former MVP players who started their careers together in Oklahoma City.
