Heat Wave To Hit Mid-Missouri

The National Weather Service is saying the hottest days of the year are on the way later this week.

The NWS reports an excessive heat watch will go into effect Wednesday afternoon and will continue through Saturday.

High temperatures are expected to be in the mid to upper 90s with nighttime lows in the upper 70s.

Heat index values will range between 105 and 110 degrees.

This will be the first prolonged period of heat this season.

Heat illnesses will be possible for those spending time outdoors or in non-air conditioned locations, and can be especially dangerous for young children and the elderly.
