Fines For Poaching To Increase

The Missouri Department of Conservation announced today [Monday] poachers in the state will face steeper penalties under a new law signed by Governor Mike Parson.

The new law specifies that fines for elk or black bear killed illegally will be between $10 thousand and $15 thousand dollars, each whitetail buck poached will cost the poacher between $1 thousand and $5 thousand dollars, and turkey fines are between $500 and $1 thousand dollars.

The new fines go into effect on August 28.
