Task Force Recommends Armed Guards In Schools

The Missouri School Safety Task Force is recommending that schools in the state employ armed officers if the district can afford it and local governments support the idea.

Republican Lieutenant Governor Mike Kehoe headed the task force that spent months working on a safety plan.

The findings were released yesterday. [Wednesday]

Missouri’s current guidelines say schools should have a safety coordinator, but the recommendation lacks a clear job description.

Missouri has already set aside $300 thousand for school safety initiatives.
