A New Florence woman and her late husband will be honored by the Missouri State Highway Patrol for their actions during a confrontation that protected the public and assisted police in the arrest in a man who had killed 4 people less than 12 hours earlier.
Julie Nordman, and her late husband Randy Nordman, will be receiving the Honorary Trooper Certificate during a ceremony on October 11.
Randy Nordman was fatally shot by Pablo Serrano-Vitorino who was fleeing from authorities after killing four men in Kansas City, Kansas.
Troopers say Randy Nordman fought with the suspect forcing the magazine from his rifle. Serrano-Vitorino’s last bullet was used to kill Nordman.
Julie Nordman alerted authorities and watched Serrano-Vitorino run away. She provided law enforcement with information that helped law enforcement set up a perimeter.
The ceremony will take place at the Montgomery County Ambulance District Building in New Florence.
