An alumnus from Missouri Military Academy in Mexico is recovering from serious injuries he sustained in Afghanistan on Saturday.
According to a spokesperson for MMA, Sergeant Ian Ives stepped on an IED.
While he was being transported to Walter Reed Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland, Ives was detained in Germany for emergency surgery.
Ives is from Cuba, Missouri.
