U.S. Senator Roy Blunt of Missouri has made a statement on the passing of United States Representative Elijah Cummings.
Blunt says “Elijah Cummings was a good friend and a powerful advocate for what he believed. The last time I saw him, he thanked me again for working with his friend, Carla Hayden, the Librarian of Congress. He saw a lot of things change in his lifetime, but understood we weren’t where we should be yet.”
The Democratic Cummings, a longtime Maryland legislator died early this morning [Thursday] at the age of 68.
His office reports he died of “complications concerning longstanding health challenges.”
