A hearing on the future of Missouri’s only abortion clinic began today [Monday] before a commissioner with the Missouri Administrative Hearing Commission.
The state health department is attempting to revoke the license for Planned Parenthood in St. Louis.
The state claims the concerns stem from inspections in March that included “failed abortions.”
Missouri is among several states to pass new restrictions on abortions.
A federal judge temporarily blocked implementation of the law in August until legal challenges can play out in court.
If the clinic’s license is revoked, Missouri would become the first state since 1974 to not have a functioning abortion clinic.
