Student-athletes will be allowed to be paid for the use of their name, image and likeness after a unanimous vote by the NCAA Board of Governors yesterday (Tuesday).

The board, met in Atlanta, and asked each of the 3 divisions to create rules between now and January of 2021.

The NCAA’s surprising reversal came after California passed a Fair Pay To Play Act, which would go into effect in 2023.

The NCAA says the new rules should continue to make compensation for play impermissible and that athletes are not employees of the universities.
