National Traffic Incident Response Week kicks off tomorrow. [Sunday]
The initiative is in an effort to raise awareness that first responders often put their lives at risk assisting others on roadways.
According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, emergency personnel responded to more than 155,000 crashes in the state last year.
MoDOT is asking drivers to move over when they see emergency vehicles on the side of the road with flashing lights.
Missouri’s Move Over law requires drivers to either change lanes or slow down when approaching stationary MoDOT, law enforcement or other emergency vehicles.
