The Mexico Bulldogs boys and girls basketball teams with a conference doubleheader sweep tonight at the Mexico High School against the Hannibal Pirates.
The Mexico girls started off the evening with a dominant 55 to 27.
Logan Blevins led all scorers with 22 points.
Shelbi Shaw also hit double digits with 10.
Mexico Lady Bulldogs improved to 2-1 on the season and 1-1 in the NCMC.
The Mexico Bulldogs boys with a 56-48 win over Hannibal.
It was a back and forth game throughout.
Hannibal started off with a 6-0 run, the Bulldogs would lead by 8 at the half.
The Pirates would close to within 3 points going into the 4th period, however Mexico held them off.
Raef Yager and Isiah Reams led Mexico with 14 points each. Drew Blevins poured in 10 points.
The Mexico coaching staff named Zach Watkins the Universal defender of the game with 8 points and 10 rebounds.
Hannibal’s Adreke Brumbough led all scorers with 24. Mexico boys are now 2-1 overall and 2-0 in the NCMC.
Both Mexico boys and girls will be back in action at the Gary Filbert Classic tomorrow against the Van-Far Indians.
Both games will be broadcast on AM 1340 KXEO with the girls game tipping at 5pm and the boys game to follow.
