Montgomery County Sheriff Scam

Montgomery County Sheriff Matt Schoo is warning residents of a scam in the area.

In a press release today (Friday), Schoo says there have been 4 reports of a person calling victims and claiming they are a deputy with his department.

The caller then tells the victims they have outstanding warrants and will then try to get the victim to meet them or send money to make the warrants go away.

Two of the victims called the caller’s bluff and said they were going to go to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department because they knew they did not have warrants.

The caller then attempted to set up a money transfer to make the warrant go away.
