The Kansas City Royals have selected Trevor Rosenthal and added him to the 40 roster and have designated left-handed pitcher Eric Skoglund for assignment.

Rosenthal had a clause in his minor league contract allowing him to opt out if he wasn’t on the MLB roster by today , which was when Opening Day was scheduled.

Major League Baseball and the MLB Players Association updated fans as to how they are handling the work stoppage yesterday.

The players are saying they are open to playing as many as 2 doubleheaders a week to make up for lost games and try to get as close to a full 162-game schedule as possible.

It is also being reported a financial deal that will advance a portion of players salaries, how to prorate salaries when the season begins again, arbitration, and what to do about the draft and international signing periods is being looked at.

The official start of the season has been delayed until May 10th.
