KXEO Special Report Policing Your Community Final Part Three With The Missouri State Highway Patrol

Welcome in to third and final part a special report by KXEO News on policing your community.

This week KXEO news has spoken with various law enforcement agencies about their policing policies on use of force and choke holds.

Today a discussion with Missouri State Highway Patrol Sergeant Scott White.

Sgt. White says he is confident that troopers are trained appropriately on use of force by the patrol.

White says something that needs to be highlighted is the duty of care when a person is being restrained.

Almost a month ago the George Floyd killing by a Minneapolis police officer sparked protests and debate on police reform in our country.

The nation still seems to be divided on what police reform will look like.

This week a Republican policing reform measure collapsed in the Senate when Democrats lined up to block it after criticizing the legislation as an inadequate response to nationwide calls for action to address police misconduct and racial injustice.

Last (Thursday) night the U.S. House of Representatives voted to approve the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act with mostly Democratic support, however President Donald Trump has threatened to veto the measure.
