St. Louis Blues all star Ryan O’Reily is a finalist for the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy.
The award is given to the player adjudged to have exhibited the best type of sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct combined with a high standard of playing ability.
O’Reilly has been a finalist for the Lady Byng in each of the last 3 seasons and won the award as a member of the Colorado Avalanche in 2014.
The finalists are down to O’Reilly and 2 other players.
The winners will be selected by votes from the Professional Hockey Writers’ Association and will be revealed either during the Conference Finals or before the start of the Stanley Cup Final.
Major League Baseball says even though the stands will be empty when the season opens next week they will play crowd noise during games.
Stadium sound engineers will have access to around 75 different effects and reactions according to MLB.
The crowd sounds have been captured from the the video game MLB The Show.
Baseball is hoping the crowd noises, along with stadium announcers, walkup music and in-stadium video, will replicate the in-game experience as closely as possible without real fans in the stadium.
The Kansas City Royals acquired power-hitting outfielder Franchy Cordero and pitcher Ronald Bolanos for left-hander Tim Hill in a trade with the San Diego Padres last night.
Both Cordero and Bolanos were immediately put on the Royals 40-man roster.
