KXEO Sports Report 9/4/20

The Mexico Bulldogs football team will get to play their season opener tonight (Friday) on the road against the Southern Boone Eagles.

The Bulldogs had their game vs. Centralia canceled last week after a player tested positive for COVID-19.

KXEO will be carrying the game live and streaming it on KXEO.com.

Pre-game interview with Mexico head coach Steve Haag at 6:30 with kickoff at 7.

Other week 2 matchups include the battle of Callaway between the North Callaway Thunderbirds and South Callaway.

Moberly is at home vs. Osage.

The Fulton Hornets have their home opener against California.

The Centralia Panthers host the Hallsville Indians.

Blair Oaks against Knob Knoster.

One game is being moved to tomorrow (Saturday) is MMA vs. Highland.

The Missouri Military Academy’s football stadium in Mexico experienced an unforeseen electrical problem.

The game will be played at noon tomorrow (Saturday).

The Mexico Bulldogs girls softball team start play in the War on the Battlefield Tournament tonight(Friday) and tomorrow (Saturay) in Jefferson City.

Mexico has started off the season 1-0 and play Helias starting at 9 this (Friday) morning.

They then play Logan-Rogersville.

Mexico finishes up play today with a game against Fulton at 5:45.

The conclusion of the tournament and the champion will be crowned tomorrow (Saturday).

The Kansas City Royals with an 11-6 series opening loss to the Chicago White Sox last (Thursday) night. The loss was Kansas City’s 8th in the span of 11 games.

St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright is a nominee for the 2020 Roberto Clemente Award. It is the fifth time in Wainwright’s career to be nominated for the award.

It is given to a player for each MLB Club who best represents the game of baseball through extraordinary character, and community involvement both on and off off the field.

Starting today fans can cast votes for the overall winner on mlb.com until the end of the season Sunday, September 27th.
