Mexico Public Safety Warns Residents Of Kidnapping Phone Scam

Mexico Public Safety is warning residents about a kidnapping scam.
According to the department over the last several days area residents have received about a dozen phone calls where the caller claims that a friend or family member of the resident has been kidnapped.
The caller claims the kidnapping occurred after a vehicle crash or because the friend or family member witnessed a drug deal.
There have even been people yelling or crying in the background or getting on the phone and quickly talking, imitating a victim.
The caller tries to get the resident to send money somewhere as a ransom.
Mexico Public Safety says do not send money and do not provide any information and if you are concerned about someone’s well-being to contact the person or your local law enforcement.
