Missouri Highway Patrol Increasing DWI Enforcement For Fourth Of July Weekend

The Missouri Highway Patrol will increase DWI enforcement as the Fourth of July weekend gets started.

The 2021 counting period for the holiday will run from 6 tonight (Friday) to 11:59 Monday night.

According to a spokesperson for the Missouri Department of Transportation this year’s Fourth of July holiday is expected to break travel records, after the pandemic kept much of the nation inside for last year’s Independence Day celebrations.

During last year’s Fourth of July counting period there were 1,356 traffic crashes resulting in 15 deaths on Missouri roadways.
