Callaway County Court Activity From August 23rd

The following cases were heard on August 23, 2021, in the Circuit Court of Callaway County, Missouri, Division IV, Honorable Josh Devine presiding:

William Joseph Burgess, 48, of Fulton, was sentenced to 3 years in prison for possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine).  Burgess had been on probation for the offense, admitted violating probation, and the judge revoked it.  The judge recommended that Burgess complete a substance abuse treatment program within the Department of Corrections before being considered for release.  The case was originally investigated by the Fulton Police Department.

Dustin Caleb Chasteen, 36, of Jefferson City, pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine).  Chasteen admitted that he possessed the drug in January 2020 when he was arrested on unrelated arrest warrants for traffic offenses in Cole and Callaway counties.   The judge sentenced Chasteen to 7 years in prison but suspended execution of that sentence and placed him on five years of supervised probation.  The case was investigated by the Holts Summit Police Department.

Anthony Tyree Cole, 40, of Fulton, pleaded guilty to being a sex offender present within 500 feet of a public park.  Cole admitted that he had been on the property of Memorial Park in Fulton during a disturbance in March 2021.  Cole was prohibited from loitering or being present on or within 500 feet of public parks based on his previous conviction for statutory rape in the second degree in 2004 in Callaway County.  Police officers had responded to the park due to a report of a fight between two groups.  Cole was located at the park by officers and later confirmed to be a registered sex offender prohibited from being there.  The judge sentenced Cole to 2 years in prison to be served concurrently with other sentences he was already serving.  The case was investigated by the Fulton Police Department.

Allen Conrad Knapp, 33, of Columbia, failed to appear in court.  A warrant remains outstanding for his arrest.

Bobby Alexander Lynch, 18, of Fulton, pleaded guilty to domestic assault in the third degree.  Lynch admitted that he physically assaulted the female victim in June 2021.  The victim reported that Lynch had become angry during a verbal dispute and began assaulting her by repeatedly striking her with his fists.  The victim suffered minor injuries consisting of swelling to her face and the back of her head.  The judge sentenced Lynch to 3 years in prison but suspended execution of that sentence and placed him on five years of supervised probation.  The case was investigated by the Fulton Police Department.

Ryan Tran, 23, of Jefferson City, pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance (cocaine).  Tran admitted that he possessed the drug in January 2019 during a traffic stop for an equipment violation.  The judge sentenced Tran to 3 years in prison but suspended execution of the sentence and placed him on five years of supervised probation.  The case was investigated by Callaway County Sheriff’s Office.
