A Mexico man is in the Audrain County Jail after arrest last (Wednesday) night where he is accused of fleeing on foot following a traffic stop.
A Missouri State Trooper stopped a vehicle along US 54 near Audrain Road 844 for a violation around 10:30pm.
Once stopped 35 year old David Lee Fuget Jr. is accused of fleeing on foot and going into a wooded area carrying an unknown object.
A short time later, Apollo and Sheriff Oller, and other members arrived, to include Sergeant Derek Chism and K9 Chal. K9 Apollo began to track the person who fled from his last known location in a wooded area.
During the track, K9 Apollo located the suspect’s hat and a small briefcase containing Methamphetamine and Marijuana.
K9 Apollo continued his track through the wooded area into a cut cornfield, and eventually they came within a few hundred yards of a man lying in the field, who saw K9 Apollo and deputies coming straight at him.
The man, later identified as Fuget stood up and surrendered to K9 Apollo and members of the Sheriff’s Office and the Trooper.
Fuget was arrested and transported to the Audrain County Jail where he remains on the warrants that were outstanding and is awaiting formal additional charges for Resisting Arrest by Fleeing (Felony) and numerous drug related charges.
