Retired Air Force veteran, Jeff Hoffman, of Jefferson City, is struggling to help the Afghani family who helped him make it home. The patriarch, Colonel Amiri, a pseudonym, is faced with the choice of abandoning his family and coming to the US alone or to wait until his wife and children can come with him. If his family name is discovered, even his adult children, living elsewhere, would be in danger of execution. Extended members of the colonel’s family have already received death threats.
Amiri does not regret helping the United States and still is acting as an intelligence source, risking his and his family’s lives daily.
“American Duty”, a non-governmental organization is helping Hoffman to fundraise to aid the family and pay the cost of evacuation. You can find them on Facebook for more information.
