Mexico and Van-Far School Districts are two of 169 school districts across the state receiving School Safety Grant money in the first round of funding.
The awards, announced today (Monday) support school safety improvements such as physical security upgrades that could include new door locks and monitoring systems, bleeding control kits and automatic external defibrilators.
Mexico receives $250,000, Van-Far will get $47,200 while New Bloomfield will see $100,000 in funding with Moberly getting nearly $105,000.
The twenty million dollar grant was part of Governor Parson’s Fiscal Year 2023 early supplemental budget request while the 2024 budget proposal includes an additional fifty million dollars for the program if approved by the General Assembly.
