A Columbia man has died after being hit by a semi truck on Saturday afternoon.
The crash happened just before 5pm, near I-70 eastbound, just east of the connector.
According to the Columbia Police Department, 43-year-old David Sharrock was crossing the street when the driver of the semi truck did not have enough time to avoid the man or stop.
It is unclear as to why Sharrock was attempting to cross the interstate.
First responders transported Sharrock to the hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.
Crews closed the road for over an hour.
The driver of the semi-truck was not injured.
