Labor day weekend is here and as many people in the listening area prepare to travel, gas prices are spiking.
The national average for a gallon of gas as of this (Friday) morning according to Triple AAA is $2.44.
Mike Wright Vice President for Public Affairs for Triple AAA says in Missouri right now the average price per gallon is at $2.38.
Wright says about ten major refineries are down right now, and expects the higher gas prices for several more weeks.
