Search Warrant At Mexico Residence Leads To Three Arrests

The Audrain County Sheriff’s Office provided the following news release. At sunrise on October 10, 2023, after a several weeklong investigation, members of the Audrain County Sheriff’s Office, East Central Drug Task Force, Missouri State Highway Patrol and Mexico Public Safety Department executed a search warrant in the 1300 Block of North Washington Street in Mexico.

During the search, members located Chad Newton Helton, 38, of Mexico, who had multiple outstanding felony arrest warrants. Chad Helton remains in the Audrain County Jail with no bond set.

Members also located 63 “M-30” tablets, commonly referred to as “yerks”, that tested positive for the presence of Fentanyl in the residence. Also found was Hydrocodone, along with numerous items of property that had been reported stolen over the past several weeks during car break-ins in the Mexico area.

The following persons were arrested and transported to the Audrain County Jail, and formal charges have been filed for the listed offenses:

Jerry R. Helton, 18, of Mexico for First Degree Drug Trafficking and Possession Controlled Substance – Jerry Helton remains in the Audrain County Jail with no bond set.

Christina Smith, 18, of Mexico for Possession of Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Smith was released by court order with conditions.
