Mexico High School Cross Country Sending Three To State Meet

Three runners from the Mexico Cross Country team are state bound after running in the Class 4 District 3 race at St. Vincent Park in St. Louis on Saturday, October 28, 2023.

Coach Lucas Breneman says “It was a cold day of running on Saturday for the Class 4 District 3 race with temps in the 40’s, but that didn’t stop the Bulldogs from having a strong performance.

In order to punch your ticket to state your team must place in the top 4 or as an individual you must place in the top 30.

Mexico saw 3 of it’s own earn individual All-District honors and they were Junior Hunter Bickell 15th with a 17:27, Junior Andrew Peuster 26th with a 17:49, and Sophomore Maggie Ramsey 11th with a 21:21.

These 3 runners will run in the state meet on Saturday Nov 4th in Columbia, Mo at the Gans Creek Course.

The boys race at 11:15am and Maggie at 12:00pm.

We (the boys team) were really trying to qualify a team this year, we just fell a bit short.

The boys team finished 7/11 teams.

You never want your season to end early, but when you throw down one of your best races of the season and nearly qualify an entire team individually you can live with the results.

Of the 10 runners that competed on Saturday 8/10 had either their best race of the season or had their second best race.

Proud Coach!

We are a young team and my hope is this race, for those that didn’t make it out, will leave them motivated to come back next year on a mission.

Next year, we don’t want to just qualify, we want to win the District! We hope the Mexico Community holds us to it! RUNDXC!
