The Mexico High School Academic Team brought home their second tournament win of the season at the 8th annual Washington University Fall Academic Tournament on Saturday, November 4, 2023.
It was a dominating performance by Mexico junior captain Camden Williams, who powered just short of half of the tossups heard on the day.
Williams was the morning’s top scorer averaging 190 points per game.
Mexico entered the Championship Bracket after lunch and matched up against a 2022 National Champion Detroit Catholic Central and won 405-270.
That was followed by a Mexico win over Detroit Catholic Central’s B-team 375-260.
Mexico then won over the Class 5 reigning state champions Ladue by a score of 620-80.
The Bulldogs paved their way to the championship game with wins over Carbondale and Parkway West.
That set up a rematch with Detroit Catholic Central and Mexico pulled off the upset again to claim the tournament championship.
The Bulldogs have a current record of 28-2.
