Mexico High School Girls Wrestlers Flex Muscles In Wright City Tournament For Season Opener

The Mexico High School girls wrestling team competed in the Wright City Tournament to open the season on Saturday, November 17,, 2023.

Alexus Johns brought home a first place finish.

And Alizabeth Welch grappled her way to a second place finish.

Mexico girls wrestling head coach Tony Senor says “Pretty good start to the season.

The returning girls all looked good to go.

Alexus beat Wright City who we wrestled in the Semifinals at Districts last season.

Alizabeth Welch had a fiery tournament by knocking girls out early with some big time wins.

Abby Bowen wrestled for 3rd Place and only losing 7-9 in the last moments of the match.

Senior Karisa Hayden wrestled well and she had to face a state champion from Moberly in her bracket.

We also have a lot of new faces on the team that got to wrestle in their first high school tournament. Lilly Debo, Jashayla Johnson, Alyssa Knight, Abby Seibert all wrestled good and learned a lot in their first tournament.

We are looking forward to Thanksgiving Break to get some rest and sharpen up on somethings in practice.”
