Laddonia Murder Suspect Denied Bail At Bond Hearing Thursday Morning

18-year-old Christopher Brickey will remain in the Audrain County Jail after he was denied bail during a bond hearing at the Audrain County Courthouse on Thursday, December 7, 2023.

Brickey is charged with first-degree murder in the November shooting death of 23-year-old Matthew Stewart of Vandalia.

George Batek acted as the public defender for Brickey.

Audrain County prosecutor Jacob Shellabarger told the courtroom that this was a premeditated murder and homicide where the victim was disarmed and shot multiple times.

Judge Hamlett denied Brickey bail saying there was clear and convincing evidence that he was a danger to the community.

Another hearing is scheduled for December 14th at the Audrain County Courthouse.
