Longtime Mexico Parks and Recreation director Chad Shoemaker has announced his retirement from the position effective March 31, 2024.
Shoemaker has been the director of Mexico Parks and Recs since December of 2002.
Under his leadership the City of Mexico acquired the Green Estate Park and a new aquatic center and swimming pool was built.
Shoemaker was named president of the Missouri Park and Recreation Association in 2018.

Mexico City Manager Bruce Slagle says a regional and statewide search will be advertised to fill the position immediately.
