Mexico Public Safety Responds To Residential Kitchen Fire
Unattended cooking is the apparent cause of a kitchen fire at a Mexico residence on Friday, March 22, 2024.
Mexico Public Safety Department responded to the 700 block of South Clark just before 10pm and found a fire on a stovetop which had burned some surrounding cabinets and items on a nearby counter.
The fire was extinguished with no further damage.
According to the news release from Mexico Public Safety the resident stated she was cooking meat on the stove when she left the kitchen to go to the bathroom.
Her smoke detectors began sounding and she returned to find the fire.
The resident put flour on the fire, then exited to call 911.
There were no injuries from the incident.
