Dorsey Case Petitioned to the Supreme Court

After being denied a motion by the Missouri Supreme Court on Friday to stay the execution of Brian Dorsey, his lawyers have now filed a motion with the United States Supreme Court.

Dorsey’s legal team petitioned the high court based on the 8th Amendment, and are asking the court if a sentenced person, who has shown he has been rehabilitated, should be prohibited from the execution which was deemed appropriate in this case.

For now, Dorsey’s execution will go forward as planned tomorrow.

Dorsey, 51, was found guilty in 2008 of the murder of his cousin, Sarah Bonnie, and her spouse, Ben Bonnie, and was sentenced to death. He also sexually assaulted Sarah Bonnie after killing her.
