Several area students along with community members and the Mexico Area Chamber of Commerce were at the Mexico Area Family YMCA to celebrate the grand opening of a new playground on Thursday, May 9, 2024.
Students from the Southside Christian Academy tested out the swing set and the slides.
The playground surface is made out of recycled scrap tire, which reduces bodily injury.
The surface of the playground at the Mexico Area Family YMCA playground diverted a total of 18 tons of tires from Missouri landfills.
