A Portland, Missouri man was killed in an accident in Callaway County during the evening hours of Wednesday, July 10, 2024.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol accident report it happened at 10970 Oak Lane in Portland when 64-year-old George R. Ward was traveling north along the lake edge on his Dixie Chopper Lawn Mower.
The mower began sliding downhill and overturned into the lake and Ward was trapped underneath the mower.
Ward was pronounced deceased on scene by a Boone County Medical Examiner.
