A Laddonia man is facing weapons related charges after an arrest for an incident in Laddonia on Friday, July 26, 2024.
Audrain County Deputies responded to 110 South Pine Street at the Casey’s General Store for an attempted armed robbery.
While deputies were responding to the area, they were notified that an off-duty officer had observed a man, later identified as Sidney Douglas, brandishing what appeared to be a handgun at another person who was sitting in their vehicle.
The off-duty officer was able to disarm Douglas and detain him until deputies arrived on scene.
It was learned the handgun Douglas used during the incident was a pellet gun that was manufactured to look like an actual handgun.
Douglas was arrested and faces charges of Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Peace Disturbance.
Douglas was taken to the Audrain County Jail where he was placed on a 24-hour hold, pending formal charges by the Audrain County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office .
According to the news release the victim of this incident would not help in prosecution and no injuries were reported.
