Community Leaders Participate In C2C’s Attendance Summit At Mexico Middle School

Over 80 people from the Mexico Public Schools and various other community partners spent the day at the Mexico Middle School for an Attendance Summit hosted by Coach Tyronn Lue’s C2C Initiative and Partners for Rural Impact on Tuesday, August 6, 2024.

The day was spent planning a community wide effort to help reduce chronic absenteeism.

Brooke Oliver, CEO of the Mexico Area YMCA was in attendance and says chronic absenteeism as it effects the child, the student, and the whole family unit has some repetition.

Dana Keller, Executive Director of the Mexico Area Chamber of Commerce was also in attendance and had these thoughts.

Discussions also included generating a focused attendance plan and learning from other school systems and district perspectives.
