Mexico Lady Bulldogs Softball Beat State Ranked Fulton To Finish Third In California Turf War Tournament

The Mexico High School girls softball team brought home a third place trophy after competing in the annual California Turf War Softball Tournament over the weekend.

Mexico took the opening game of the tournament 10-1 against Boonville.

Payton Shaw hit a home run.

Landri Teel, singled, scoring one run.

Maddy Fegger led the team with three hits in three at bats.

Alyssa Miller collected two hits in three at bats.

Keerstan Ewing pitched seven innings, striking out six batters and allowing just one run.

Game 2 the Lady Bulldogs lost to the eventual tournament champion St. Elizabeth 5-2.

Maddy Feger and Landri Teel each collected two hits.

Teel went 2-for-3 in the game.

Game 3, the third place game saw Mexico go up against State ranked Fulton.

The Lady Bulldogs came out on top of the Lady Hornets by a score of 10-9.

Mexico collected 10 hits as a team.

The Lady Bulldogs led 10-4 after the 5th inning, however, Fulton closed the gap by scoring 5 runs in the bottom of the 6th.

Hannah Loyd, Maddy Feger, and Landri Teel each collected two hits.

Kenley Jones, Hannah Loyd, Payton Shaw, Keerstan Ewing, and Landri Teel each drove in one run for the team.

Keerstan Ewing started in the circle and Aleigha Henderson pitched five innings in relief.

Henderson struck out six batters.

The Lady Bulldogs return home tonight (Monday) to host the Kirksville Lady Tigers.
