Mexico Bulldogs Football Give Kirksville First Loss Of The Season In Double Overtime Playoff Thriller

The Mexico Bulldogs football team have advanced in the high school playoffs after taking down the Kirksville Tigers 21-14 in double overtime in Kirksville on Friday, November 1, 2024.

It was the second time these two teams played this season.

The last time was in Week 7 on October 11th, a 28-13 Kirksville victory.

In tonight’s game it was a scoreless first quarter.

Kirksville would strike first on a 30-yard-touchdown pass from Ryder Lyons to Kash Adams at the 3:45 second mark in the second quarter.

Mexico would tie the game at the end of the third quarter on a 15-yard pass from Kaden Benne to Drew DeMint.

Hunter Cuno gave Mexico the lead on a six-yard rush with 7:55 to go in the fourth quarter and it was 14-7 Bulldogs.

Kirksville would block a Mexico punt and get the ball back with just 3:25 to go in the fourth quarter.

The Tigers would score on a 26-yard touchdown catch by Jace Kent and it was all tied up at 14.

The game would go into Overtime, where each team gets the ball at the 25-yard line.

Kirksville won the coin toss and had the opening possession in Overtime.

The Tigers failed to score.

Mexico’s Charlie Fisher missed a 25-yard field goal on the Bulldogs Overtime offensive possession.

Then it was Double Overtime.

Mexico had the opening possession in Double Overtime and would score on a 13-yard touchdown pass from Kaden Benne to Korbyn Dorsey.

Mexico had the lead 21-14.

Kirksville would then fumble the ball and Leighton Hilderman would recover and Mexico would win the game.
