Mexico Man Arrested For Alleged Domestic Assault Involving A Knife
A Mexico man is facing multiple charges following an arrest where he is accused of domestic assault involving a knife on Monday, December 23, 2024.
24-year-old Brett M. Bybee, faces charges of first-degree domestic assault, armed criminal action, second-degree domestic assault, and resisting or interfering with arrest for a felony.
According to reporting from KOMU 8 News, Mexico Public Safety officers went to a Mexico residence, where they found the victim and her children, and Bybee trying to hide in a car.
The victim allegedly told officers she and Bybee had been arguing because he thought she was cheating on him.
During the argument, Bybee grabbed a phone from a child and smashed it.
The victim told officers Bybee then allegedly grabbed her and hit her head into a wall, causing her nose to bleed and be cut.
After more arguing, Bybee allegedly threatened to kill himself, then attacked the victim and strangled her.
According to the probable cause statement officers found a knife by the backdoor.
Bybee is being held in the Audrain County Jail without bond.
