Missouri Governor Mike Parson announced his appointment for the office of Missouri Attorney General in a press conference this morning. [Tuesday]
Parson has chosen State Treasurer Eric Schmitt to take over the office being vacated by Josh Hawley, who was elected to the United State Senate on November 6.
In his announcement, Governor Parson said he felt it was important to appoint someone who has been vetted by the people of Missouri.
Schmitt took the seat of treasurer on January 9, 2017.
Hawley will resign from his post of Missouri Attorney General on January 3.
