Little Dixie Responds To Sturgeon House Fire With Over One Hundred Thousand Dollars In Damages

The following press release was sent from Little Dixie Fire Protection District.

On 01/22/2025 at approximately 0115 hours Little Dixie
Fire Protection District Stations #3 and #1 were dispatched
to a residential structure fire on Audrain Road 165,
Sturgeon, Mo.

Further information was that there was flames
visible in the attic.

The scene was located just north of Highway 22 & Highway V that enters into Sturgeon.

Boone County Fire was requested for mutual aid as they were
closer than our units.

Boone County Fire responded with several pieces of apparatus and personnel and started the fire attack.

Little Dixie Fire arrived just minutes after Boone
County Fire.

Little Dixie Fire responded with 2 engines, 2 tankers, a
rescue squad and 12 personnel.

Boone County Medic 131 also responded.

Both departments coordinated an aggressive attack
extinguishing the fire.

Investigation revealed the fire was originating in the attic around the flue for the wood stove.

Damage to the residence was estimated at $100,000.00.
There were no injuries to the occupants or firefighters.

The owners were alerted by the sounds of the smoke alarms.

On 01/22/2025 at approximately 0748 hours both Little Dixie
Fire and Boone County Fire responded back to the scene as
some of the insulation in the attic had re-ignited and was
burning in the attic.

The fire was quickly extinguished.
