Mexico School Bus Involved In Minor Accident

Minor damage is being reported to a Mexico school bus and another vehicle following an accident during the morning hours of Thursday, Feb. 28, 2025.

According to the Mexico Public Safety Department accident report it happened when a Pre-k bus driven by 37-year-old Amanda Eakins of Mexico stopped to wait for the traffic signal to turn and was rear-ended by a vehicle driven by 77-year-old Ronald McKinney of Mexico.

According to the accident report McKinney said his foot slipped off the break and his vehicle rear-ended the school bus.

The bus was occupied by six students.

Mexico School District superintendent Dr. Troy Lentz says there were no injuries and parents were notified.

Lentz says the bus is being evaluated, but it does not have any obvious damage.
