The Mexico Lady Bulldogs claimed the Class 4 District 8 Championship with a 54-32 win over Kirksville at the Mexico High School on Saturday, Mar. 7, 2025.
The victory came just one day after the Mexico Bulldogs boys basketball team claimed a District Championship.
The last time the Mexico High School boys and girls basketball teams claimed District Championships in the same year was in 1997.
Mexico and Kirksville met twice in the regular season with Kirksville winning both of those games.
In today’s game the Lady Bulldogs got down early and trailed Kirksville 13-8 after the first quarter.
The Lady Bulldogs went into halftime down by 3.
The third quarter belonged to the Lady Bulldogs as they outscored Kirksville 20-6.
The Lady Bulldogs nailed 8-three pointers in the game.
Mexico’s offense was led by freshman Alyssa Miller who had a game high 17 points.
Lady Bulldogs senior Claire Hudson put up 16.
And Freshman Scottie Smith contributed 15 points.
