Mexico Baseball Puts Up Dominant Performances At Champs Fitness Wood Bat Weekend

The Mexico High School baseball team has started the season

off 4-0 after competing at the Champs Fitness Wood Bat Weekend.

Mexico played the games in Mountain View, Missouri and Houston, Missouri.

Mexico opened up weekend with a 9-0 victory over Houston.

Brady Fox picked up the win for the Bulldogs. The right-handed pitcher gave up just two hits and no runs over five innings and struck out seven batters. Brady Fox singled and Drew DeMint doubled. Kaden Benne stole two bases.

Mexico picked up a 10-0 shutout victory against the Halfway Cardinals. Austin Maxwell was dominant on the mound, ringing up 11 strikeouts and allowing no hits and no runs. Brady Fox and Jaydon Eldridge each drove in two runs for the Bulldogs. Mexico collected six stolen bases in the game.

Mexico picked up their third straight shutout of the season with a 15-0 win over Naylor. Drew DeMint hit a sac fly, scoring one run, Jaydon Eldridge singled, scoring one run, Landon Hilderman doubled, scoring one run, Cooper Bledsoe singled, scoring two runs, and Braydon Arnold singled, scoring one run. That all happened in the first inning. Jaydon Eldridge earned the win for the Bulldogs. The right-handed pitcher gave up on hit and no runs over two innings, and struck out five batters. Cooper Rowe tossed one inning of scoreless baseball for Mexico.

The Bulldogs finished up the weekend with a 19-2 win over the Ellington Whippets. Sam Ryan singled, scoring three runs, Austin Maxwell doubled scoring one-run. Tyson Carr singled, scoring one run, Brady Fox singled, scoring two runs, Chance McCarty singled, scoring one run, Drew DeMint tripled, scoring one run, And Jaydon Eldridge singled, scoring one run. Graydon Sewell singled scoring two runs, Landon Hilderman singled, scoring one run, Kaden Benne doubled, scoring two runs, Hunter Burnett singled, scoring one run, and Gatlin Denham singled, scoring one run. Landon Hilderman earned the win for Mexico, allowing no hits and striking out four batters in two and two-thirds innings.

The Bulldogs had a .451 batting average as a team and collected 37 hits with 8 extra base hits and outscored their opponents 53-2 in 4 games to open up the season.

Mexico hosts Macon for the home opener with a 5pm first pitch on Monday, Mar. 24, 2025.
